Downtown Estacada Commission

The Downtown Estacada Commission (DEC) focuses on the revitalization of the commercial core and heart of the community, Downtown. Formerly the Estacada Development Association, formed in 2000, the DEC became a commission by ordinance of the City of Estacada on January 1, 2018.

Working frequently in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, the Arts Commission, Parks and Recreation and other groups, DEC commissioners also work with business partners to enhance economic vitality and encourage tourism in the downtown. One strong focus is community engagement and includes some events—big and small—such as 4th of July Parade, Estacada Oktoberfest, and Christmas Tree Lighting in addition to business promotions.

The DEC operates under the Main Street program and is recognized at the State level as “Designated Main Street”. Many volunteers work with the DEC to operate the high quality events and to grow the economy in a way that also honors the heritage and small-town atmosphere of Estacada.

The Commission plays an advisory role, giving input to the City Council on matters impacting Downtown Estacada, but is also a working board which executes programs, projects, and initiatives that support cultural and economic activity downtown. They also play a key role in historic and heritage preservation as a key strategy for economic development.
