Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee

The DEIC is a volunteer advisory committee established by the City Council in October 2020 to serve as a liaison to the City and advisory to the City Council on matters in our community related to diversity, equity(fair/just), and inclusion. We advocate for our community and are here to support our community members.

The responsibilities of the DEIC are as follows:

Provide input and advice for City staff and Council to advance equity in our community as a central component of public processes and decision-making;
Assist the City and council on outreach and engagement in our community with historically underrepresented groups;
Provide community oversight and opportunities for the City and Council to have greater accountability to the community on equity, inclusion, and diversity;
Advise the City in the development of a plan to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion among Estacada’s government and community;
Evaluate the City and Council’s progress on equity-related goals, objectives, and plans; and
Review current policies and procedures with an equity lens.

DEIC Membership The DEIC shall consist of 7 members appointed by the City Council possessing the following characteristics:

A commitment to fairness, justice, diversity and inclusion for all;
The ability to work together with people of diverse perspectives and experiences;
Connections with local historically underrepresented communities;
Experience, skills and knowledge in policy development, evaluation, local government, public participation, research, education or business; and
The ability to represent the diversity of Estacada.

Meeting Schedule: Meetings on the 1st Monday at 5:00 PM, with Workshops as needed on the 3rd Monday at 5:00 PM.
