Our Civics Academy is a program designed to educate and empower citizens like you. Through engaging workshops, discussions, and activities, you'll gain a deeper understanding of:
Local government structure: Learn about the roles of elected officials, city departments, and boards.
Budgeting and finance: Understand how your tax dollars are allocated and how you can influence spending decisions.
Land Use Planning and Development: Discover the unique challenges and opportunities presented by Oregon's land use regulations, including the Urban Growth Boundary and steps for annexation.
Public Works, Plants, and Parks: Explore the essential services that keep your community safe, clean, and enjoyable, including road maintenance, water and wastewater treatment, and park upkeep.
Public Safety: Hear from the police & law enforcement chief on how law enforcement and emergency management are handled in Estacada.
By participating in our Civics Academy, you'll become a more informed and engaged citizen. You'll have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and make a positive impact on your community.
