The main reason we chose not to include food waste in the City of Estacada program is due to the added cost. The yard debris material collected in Estacada will be dumped at Metro South. Metro South does not accept food scraps in yard debris loads at their facility. If we included food scraps in the program the material would need to be disposed at Metro Central, which would add more drive time, more miles, and the additional disposal cost which is indicated below.
