With the help of Dustin Hawkins, a local Eagle Scout candidate, the City of Estacada is beginning a project to mark storm drains with reminder messages about the proper use of the storm drain system. Labeling storm drains with stencils or curb markers is a popular method for getting the message out. The idea is simple: let the public know that when they dump something down the drain, it just doesn't disappear nor does it go through the treatment plant. Often our careless disposal of fertilizers, oil, or other pollutants goes directly into a waterbody; in our case – the Clackamas River!
