Meeting called to order at 6:35 p.m.

Commissioners Present:  Gloria Polzin, Am Griswold, Janette Kirchhofer, Angel Austin, Rob Gaskill and Kathleen Wyatt.  Jami Berry Absent

Approval of Minutes:  January and February minutes were approved.

Financial Statement:  Kathleen gave us the financial statement.  With the Arts Action Alliance and State of Oregon grants added in, the Summer Celebration balance is currently $5,036 and the Arts Commission’s Administrative balance is $1,499.

Yahoo Group:  It was discussed whether to discontinue this seemingly useless effort.  It was decided to keep it for now and try to make it more user-friendly.

Thank you Cards:  One needs to be sent to RACC for the $2200 grant received, and possibly one to Alex Fulmor, who is building our fundraiser benches.

Music Crawl III:  The EAAC discussed donating to the Spring Music Crawl.  It was moved and seconded that we donate $200.  Motion carried with one abstention.  Rob offered the use of the Chamber’s US Bank account to the Music Crawl, so that careful accounting of monies collected could be made.  Am will discuss this with Music Crawl Committee members.

Subcommittee Reports:

Summer Celebration:  Everyone seemed to be on track at the meeting held last month.

Publicity:  Kathleen will write an article for the Rural View newsletter, something regarding Summer Celebration, Arts & Culture, etc.

Fundraising:  Am brought in one of the benches to be auctioned, all but finished, and all agreed they are very nice.  Rob mentioned the idea of making some benches and leaving them unpainted for buyers to purchase as custom-painted-to-order pieces.  Discussion on whether to pay Alex some stipend for his efforts in building the benches was tabled for now.

Community Relations:  Rob reported on some Chamber activities (Good Morning Estacada, etc).  Rob again offered the services of Connie Redmond, who works for the Chamber and is willing to make calls, stuff envelopes, etc.

Public Art Opportunities:  Gloria reported on the Main Street Workshop, where the Highway renewal project was discussed thoroughly.  Possibilities include a crosswalk, sidewalks, trees, traffic median, bike lanes, lights, flowers, and Art!

FOTA:  Am will begin calling soon (promise) as she is also preparing to call for Kid’s Art Booth volunteers.

Arts & Culture:

Ÿ         Final performances of PAGE play “Harvey” March 7 & 8

Ÿ         Music Crawl March 21

Ÿ         Sneakin’ Out on March 29

Ÿ         Writers Night is coming up on April 12

Ÿ         Larry Wilder and the Stumptown Stars on April 18

Estacada Business Summit:  the date has changed, and it is now scheduled for April 12.

EAAC Spring Retreat:  Do we need one?  What will we discuss?  It was decided we should hold a Spring retreat to discuss policies for Summer Celebration, and the strategic/action plan for the Arts Commission needs to be reviewed and updated.  It will be held here in Council Chambers from 5 - 8 p.m. in place of our regular meeting.

Next Month’s Meeting is April 2, 2008 - Spring Retreat with Special Agenda
