PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

Estacada City Hall, 475 SE Main Street

Wednesday, November 28, 2007 – 7:00 pm

 

Call to Order:

 

          The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.

 

Roll Call:

 

Present:  Chair Steve Guilliams, Cm. Dennis Dahrens, Cm. Zoe Miller, Cm. Dianna Turk, Cm. Tim Arnold, Cr. Becky Arnold, Sadie Main.

 

Absent:  Cm. Lisa Homan, Cm. Matt Soots.

 

 

Approve October 24, 2007 Minutes:

 

Cm. Miller moved to approve the minutes as presented, Cm. Arnold seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

Citizen’s Concerns & Comments:

         

There were none.

 

 

City Council Liaison Report:

         

Cr. Arnold talked about the handout regarding the Parks and Recreation Task Force meeting that is coming up.  She said that the City Council and School Board is very excited about it.  She also commented that the Park fund has a lot of SDC’s coming in.  Cr. Arnold informed the Commission that the park pavilion is here.

         

 

Commission Business:

 

Park Update:  Chair Guilliams talked about an email from Dave Piper that described the progress of the park.  He talked about the new paver form that went out in the paper today that lowered the cost of the pavers to $50. Cm. Miller brought up the idea about teaming up with the Chamber to do a business challenge where they take their donation box around to businesses and they compete to raise the most money.  Chair Guilliams would like to set up a display at the library with the donation box also.  He informed the Commission that US Bank donated $1000 to the park.

 

Christmas Bazaar Update:  P & R didn’t end up doing a table.  No update.

 

Library Display:  Already discussed.

 

P & R Tax District:  Cr. Arnold discussed this in the beginning.  Chair Guilliams talked about Cm. Miller’s presentation about the P & R Tax District to the School Board, the School Board is very excited about it.

 

 

Citizen’s Concerns & Comments

         

          There were none.

 

Commission Report & Comments

         

Cm. Arnold is really excited about the Task Force, and the School Board being so supportive. 

 

Cm. Turk is feeling better and December is going to better and next year is going to be even better.

 

Cm. Miller encourages the Commission to sell more pavers!  She would like to send home the paver forms with school kids.  Cm. Miller talked more about the Chamber challenge.

 

Chair Guilliams thinks it’s great to see the park being built.

 

Cr. Arnold talked about the vacancies coming up on the Commission.      

 

Cm. Dahrens commented that it has been interesting these last couple of years and is looking forward to two more years.

 

Cm. Turk inquired about the Milwaukie Spaghetti Feed.  Chair Guilliams and Cm. Miller talked about their proceeds.

 

The Commission decided to cancel the December meeting.
