Estacada Public Library Board of Directors Meeting

Minutes

June 26, 2007

 

Attending: Rebecca Paget-Decker, Florence Tallmon, Bruce Whiting, Katinka Bryk

 

Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm.

Minutes of May 2007 were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report:

Foundation balance is $240,789.

 

Statistics:

May 2007 library statistics show a circulation increase of 15.6% from last year.

The County distribution formula currently shows $315,586 for ESPL in 2007/08.

 

Old Business:

  • Acoustical analysis -3 weeks for materials to arrive.
  • Gary needs drill to install locks on heat pumps.
  • Exterior sign project not funded by city council yet. Foundation will continue to address the project.
  • The window stops have been ordered.
  • Shelving backstops installed.
  • Wage analysis for management discussion after city council meeting. It was agreed to create an agenda for a work session with council on a variety of library issues.
  • Rebeccah submitted an excellent article to the Estacada News from a teen perspective.
  • Couch in the teen area will be discussed with the high school woodshop in the fall.

 

New Business:

·        It was decided to purchase security cameras to keep an eye on the audio-visual materials.

·        It was decided to review the community policies with the intent of adding a disclaimer to limit types of uses that may be inappropriate for a library. Examples were church services and KKK meetings.

·        A preliminary review of the library’s policies and bylaws
