Estacada Public Library Board of Directors Meeting

Minutes

April 17, 2007

 

Attending: Linda Arnett, Rebecca Paget-Decker, Florence Tallmon, Bruce Whiting, Dennis Weber, Katinka Bryk.

 

Meeting called to order at 5:08pm.

Minutes of March 2007 were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report:

Foundation balance is $224,192.

 

Statistics:

March 2007 library statistics show a circulation increase of 13.6% from last year.

County funding was discussed. The distribution formula was changed by LNIB to 55/45, a loss of $3000 in revenue for ESPL

 

Old Business:

  • Acoustical analysis -still waiting for Kraig Bartel to give materials estimates.
  • Padlocks and keys for heat pumps ordered.
  • Dennis reported on the exterior sign. Design met with general approval except that Linda suggested wood rather than basalt stanchions. Dennis will bring her suggestion the sign group.
  • The window stops and shelving backstops have been ordered.
  • Discussion on wage analysis for management. No agreement was reached – discussion will continue at the next meeting.
  • Scrapbook – the Foundation will purchase book, we need to bring items to put in it.
  • Linda submitted the first From the Pond’s Edge article to the Estacada News.
  • Couch in the teen area – it was suggested to contact Mr. Nims or Ken Fuller for construction of frame, as the first bid was too high.

 

New Business:

·        Katinka reported that Library is celebrating National Library Week with a promotion- get a new card, get a library buck, check out five items, get a library buck.

·        The annual budget was reviewed. It was decided to trim $20,000 from the collections budget to protect the contingency and to discuss with the city the portion paid to city staff. Rebeccah offered to attend budget or council meetings as necessary.
