Estacada Public Library Board of Directors Meeting

Minutes

March 31, 2007

 

Attending: Linda Arnett, Rebecca Paget-Decker, Florence Tallmon, Bruce Whiting, Dennis Weber, Katinka Bryk.  Guests: Bill and Lawretta Ray.

 

Meeting called to order at 7:07pm.

 

Minutes of January 2007 were approved as read.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Foundation balance is $223,198.

 

Statistics:

February 2007 library statistics show a circulation increase of 16.9% from last year. New format of statistics sheet was explained.

County funding was discussed and the potential benefit of the timber tax reinstated for another few years.

 

Old Business:

  • Acoustical analysis is completed. We are waiting for Kraig Bartel to give materials estimates.
  • Fence around the heat pumps- the fire marshal says that is not necessary. We can purchase padlocks and place the key in the Knox box. Rebeccah made the motion that we purchase the padlocks, Bruce second.
  • Roof over garbage enclosure is done, and under budget. Bruce will look into locking hardware.
  • Dennis has agreed to be liaison to the Foundation pertaining to the sign on the berm.
  • The window stops have been ordered.

 

New Business:

 

·        Discussion on wage analysis presented by Katinka. We agreed to institute the suggested increases for part-time staff. Florence made the motion, Bruce second.

·        The Foundation authorized the final furniture purchases- coffee tables and the couch in the teen area, in addition to the shelving backstops.

·        New garbage cans were admired. It was suggested that Gary drill a few small holes in the ashtrays to let the rain go through.

·        It was agreed to continue discussions with the fire chief regarding the community room doors in an attempt to negate the need for magnetic door holders.

·        It was agreed to pass on the fishing prints donation.

·        Discussion on getting flowers from Barbara’s again. It was decided to encourage donations from home gardens instead of purchase flowers. Linda will speak to the garden club.

·        Marketing and outreach- Linda and Rebeccah agreed to write the monthly Notes from LibraryLand or other informational articles.

·        Scrapbook- it was agreed to ask the two scrap booking workshops if they wanted to work on a Library scrapbook. Linda offered to help collect articles.
