Librarian’s Report:
Old Business:
New Business:
· There was a discussion of the memo Mr. Ealy sent to Dan Zinser regarding the November 2008 library service district vote. It discussed the new Estacada district boundaries which Ms. Bryk pointed out had been modified to our disadvantage. The new “comparinator” now shows a distribution of $574,008 to ESPL if the district passes.
· There was discussion to form a Friends of the Library group. Ms. Mahan looked into FOLUSA and said it requires only $40 annual dues to affiliate with that national organization. Ms. Bryk made the motion and Mr. Weber seconded that the Board begin the process of forming a Friends of the Estacada Library Group. The motion passed unanimously.
· There was discussion about the memo Mr. Ealy sent regarding the status of the Interim Director position after that position expires in 2009. He stated that he cannot commit to ”any future library –related employment scenarios” due to “our current financial situation with the Library”. The implications of this are that it is possible that Ms. Bryk could be unemployed after her temporary term as Interim Director. The Board had no intention of that being the case, and had assumed that Ms. Bryk would be able to return to her position as Librarian if she so chose. The Board will send a letter to the Council and the City Manager making that point clear.
· Ms. Bryk handed out the first draft of the Strategic Plan Goals and Objectives for review and comment.
