CONVENE MEETING
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm. Mayor Austin led in the pledge of allegiance.
Present: Cr. Richard Hartwig, Cr. Norm Ernst, Cr. Kay Nelson, Cr. Brent Dodrill, Cr. Becky Arnold, Cr. Michele Conditt, Mayor Bob Austin, CM Randy Ealy, CR Denise Carey.
URBAN RENEWAL PLAN
Greg Ellis, City Manager, City of Independence,
presented a power point “The Independence Story”. The presentation showed the projects
completed in Independence with the help of Urban Renewal dollars. He also answered questions regarding the
process they went through, which was very similar to what we are doing now.
Tina Mosco, Tashman LLC, explained how the Urban
Renewal tax would show up on tax statements.
Greg & Tina answered questions from the council
and the audience regarding how the Urban Renewal tax works.
Cr. Conditt suggested that the City prepare a
Q&A pamphlet that people can look for answers to their questions about an
Urban Renewal District. CM Ealy stated
that the next City newsletter will contain a lot of information regarding this
issue. He also distributed a pamphlet
published by Clackamas County that provides a lot of information about Urban
Renewal Districts.
