Meeting
Time Change
It was decided
that the Arts Commission meetings will be moved up ½ hour to begin at 6:30
pm.
§
Gloria
will mail a thank-you card to the Library Foundation for the use of their
storage unit for the Summer Celebration.
§
Gloria
reported that the Arts Commission did not receive the NEA grant of $10K this
year. It is definitely a disappointment
but it was to be expected. It is unusual
to have received the grant as many times as we did. We still have two pending grants that
equal $10K not heard from yet.
§
Jami
reported that Cherie Lingelbach would be taking the place of Catherine Kumlin
in running the Arts Fair this year.
§
The
next big SC meeting will be Feb. 20th at the library.
Fundraising
As reported last month, Am
will be working on the “chairs/benches created by artists for auction” idea
after the holidays. She will, however,
bring up the idea at the next Spiral Gallery Co-op meeting. It was suggested from Angel that we ask the
high school for the wood blanks as a donation.
The Oregon Symphony
performs at the Estacada Auditorium on Tues., Dec. 18th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at Figaro’s, the
Artsmith, and the high school. They are
also available online at Estacada Together’s website: www.estacadatogether.org. It was suggested that the commission bring
the summer celebration cd’s to be available at the concession stand. Am volunteered to bring them from the
gallery.
Angel brought sample pages
from her Mural Art Walk project. They
were very well done and everyone liked them.
Her plan is to have one binder for every school, one for the gallery and
one for the library. They would be
“checked out” for use. They will also
include the “Who’s Who in Estacada” page, the mural brochure, and information
on how a mural is created from start to finish.
Am volunteered her photos and information from the Kinzy Faire
mural.
Gloria brought Am a
volunteer list to begin the database, which she’ll do after the holidays.
After a bit of
discussion, a motion was made and passed to include the Music Crawl to the Arts
& Culture 2008 series, which would include financial support in the form of
matching funds not to exceed $200. The
Music Crawl is also part of the Summer Celebration. Am abstained from voting as she is on the
Music Crawl committee.
It was also
suggested to us by Estacada Together that we include in our Arts & Culture
lineup, a musical event being sponsored by the Veterans Memorial folks to take
place in April at the Auditorium. The
commission agreed to add this to our line up. Estacada Together has again
changed their line-up for their events.
So including P.A.G.E., this is now how it has shaped up:
Jami will ask
Steven Allred about Sat., April 12th for Writer’s Night. She’ll also start work on the mailers.
The meeting
was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
The next
meeting will be held Wed., Jan. 2, 2008 at 6:30 pm in the City
Council chambers.
Respectfully
submitted,
Jami Berry,
Secretary
