Approval of Minutes

The October minutes were read via email prior to the meeting and approved.

Financial Statement

Kathleen brought in an updated treasurer’s report; the commission has approximately $1,327.82 and the summer celebration has approximately $1,661,49.

Mail

No mail at this time.

Summer Celebration Update:

The commission looked over the Policies in place and the Mission Statement and Goals of the Celebration.  It was decided to add “To Keep it Fun!” as one of the goals.  We also approved the Mission Statement as written below.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Estacada Area Arts Commission’s “Estacada Summer Celebration” is to present an annual community-building event in downtown Estacada, celebrating the arts through diverse visual artists, musical performances, and cultural and heritage experiences.

Publicity

Jami will keep a watch out for a less expensive email blast program as the current one is a bit hefty in price, but does work very nice.

Fundraising

In regards to the backpacks, chairs/tables/stools, Am will be working on this after the holidays.  Am also reported that there are a lot of “Heart of Estacada” postcards left over and everyone agreed with her suggestion was to save and distribute in the water bill again – in the spring of 2008.

School Relations

Angel Austin’s goal is to have the Mural Artwalk project done in time for spring.

Public Art Opportunities

No report at this time.

FOTA (Friends of the Arts)

It was discussed what needs to be done, and Gloria will get the information together for Am who has agreed to work on calling the FOTA’s and updating the database.

Additional Projects/Ongoing Business:

The commission is still short one commissioner and it has to be a “in the city limits” person.  We are still looking….

Jami has been talking with the City Of Milwaukie as they are trying to get an Arts Commission started.  She has emailed them information and she and Gloria met with a representative to help them get started.

Arts & Culture Series

Estacada Together has been adjusting their schedule and PAGE has not yet confirmed the dates for the play.  Jami is waiting for all this to be finalized prior to picking a date for Writers’ Night.  The plan is to have a mailing ready by the beginning of January.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

The next meeting will be held Wed., December 5, 2007 at 7:00 pm in the City Council chambers.

Respectfully submitted,

Jami Berry, Secretary
