The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm.
The July minutes were read via
email prior to the meeting and approved.
Traci advised the commission a
full report would be available for the September meeting.
No mail at this time.
There was no report from Kate
at the time of this meeting.
The Summer Celebration was a huge success. Yay! Everything went
very well and the weather cooperated as well. The wrap-up meeting will be
set soon and everyone will be notified by Kate Bast as to when and where.
The problem arose between the event coordinator and the arts commission as to
what materials were allowed on the information booth table. The
commission discussed it and decided that it would set policy that the
commission has the last word on what is and is not allowed at the booth.
It will be discussed further at SeptemberBs meeting.
Jami reported that the following monies came in at the S.C.: $19.50 in
A.C. donation jar; $145 for backpacks; $113 raffle basket; $1341 for Silent Art
Auction; $250 from food vendors; $808.60 Sunday donations; and $769 for
t-shirts and cd sales/donations. All monies go to next yearBs Summer
Celebration except for the backpack and Silent Art Auction monies which goes to
the Arts Commission. The total to the Summer Celebration is $1940.60 and $1505.50
to the Arts Commission.
It was decided to sell the backpacks at next yearBs celebration as well as
any arts and culture event.
The Silent Art Auction was very successful this year and the idea was brought
up to have the local artists create art on chairs or benches or t-shirts, etc.,
and auction these off in the S.A.A. next year. If finished early, they
can be displayed in the community and at local events to build interest.
Am volunteered to be in charge of this project.
S.C. Non-Art Booth Policy
The policy was reviewed, updated and voted in as new policy. Jami will
update the changes and send copies to all commissioners.
Gloria is still trying to set up a meeting with the Arts Action Alliance to
help the Arts Commission get back on track as far as the Summer Celebration is
concerned. We will also ask them for help in creating a Mission Statement
for the S.C. She will let us know when she sets up a meeting.
Angel reported that her Mural
Walk / Art Camp was very successful this summer. She also has a new
vision of how she wants her students mural cards to be recreated and will be
working on that for next year.
No report at this time.
Jami will look into the newest Chautauqua program and will connect with Estacada Together to see what their 2008-09 lineup will be before deciding on Arts & Culture dates.
Gloria plans to ask Debbie Turner and Jennifer Lewis to
assist the commission by creating a FOTA list by combining the volunteer lists
and expanding on that main list by adding email addresses to it as well.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
The next meeting will be held Wed., September 5, 2007 at 7:00 pm in the City
Council chambers.
Respectfully submitted,
Jami Berry, Secretary
