PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

Estacada City Hall, 475 SE Main Street

Wednesday, February 28, 2007 – 7:00 pm

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm.

Roll Call:

Present: Chair Steve Guilliams, Cm. Dennis Dahrens, Cm. Zoe Miller, Cm. Dianna Turk.

Absent: Cm. Tim Arnold, Cm. Lisa Homan, Cm. Matt Soots, Cr. Becky Arnold.

Approve January 24, 2007 Minutes.

Cm. Miller moved to approve the minutes as presented, Cm. Turk seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

City Council Liaison Report. Councilor Arnold was absent. CM Ealy discussed his report to the Estacada School Board.

Guest: Kim Miedema, a MHNF intern for 10 months. Interested in increasing biodiversity at the pond site. Duck habitat; bird houses; etc. kjmiedema@fs.fed.us 503-630-8717.

Commission Business:

Cm. Miller; Cm. Dahrens; Cm. Guilliams will meet with Dave Piper and discuss the Phase II grant application to Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission due April 15.

Earth Day. Commission discussed all events that will transpire up at the Wade Creek Park site. Cm. Turk will coordinate with Sadie Main.

The Commissioners discussed an Exploratory Committee to look into the feasibility of creating a Parks and Recreation District. They want to discuss again at their next regularly scheduled meeting.

Cm. Miller is the liaison to the Estacada School Board’s Ballfield Committee.

Citizen’s Concerns & Comments

There were none.

Commission Report & Comments

Cm. Miller will reach out to the PTA’s and the Estacada Schools to talk to them about the skate park and the Wade Creek Park progress respectively.

Cm. Turk reported that the painting was posted on Ebay for $1,500.
