The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m.
The June minutes were read via email prior to
the meeting and approved.
Gloria was waiting for a post-detail
spreadsheet from Rochelle, but at the time of this meeting, there was no report
available. Gloria will check on the
progress of this and report at next month’s meeting.
No mail at this time.
The commission voted on offices, they are as follows: Gloria Polzin, Chair; Angel Austin, Vice Chair; Jami Berry, Secretary; and Kathleen Wyatt, Treasurer. The commission still needs one more commissioner and Gloria will speak with Denise from the City about putting out an ad.
There was no report from Kate at the time of
this meeting.
It had been brought to the attention of the
Arts Commission that we might need a policy regarding allowing non-profit
booths at the Summer Celebration. Jami
brought the non art fair booth policy that Mauragrace had originally started
prior to last Summer Celebration. The
commission discussed the draft and made some revisions. Jami will update the policy, send it to the
commissioners via email and bring for review and voting at the next meeting.
Kathleen offered to help make Summer
Celebration Information Booth signs and Jami will email her with signage needs.
There was also a discussion about setting up a
meeting with Cheryl Snow, Executive Director of the Arts Action Alliance of
Clackamas County, to discuss the current vision of the Summer Celebration and
its relationship to the Commission. It
will be discussed after Summer Celebration and at the next meeting.
The next Summer Celebration meeting will be
held Thurs., July 19th at 7:00 pm in Flora’s Room at the library.
Gloria met with Dave Piper about the Wade Creek Park project. She will ask him to come to a meeting to discuss further the plans being made and the reason he thinks we should wait for Phase II or III before beginning our 1% for Art Project.
Kathleen brought the nylon backpacks that the
Commission purchased to sell at the Summer Celebration. They turned out really beautiful, in colors
of purple, blue and orange. The total
cost of purchase was $2.73 each and the commission will sell at the Summer
Celebration for $5.00. We purchased a
total of 321 (with overages) for a total spent of $876.33.
Jami received an email about the newest
Chautauqua program and after Summer Celebration will begin looking into next
year’s line up.
The idea of creating a Mission Statement for the Summer Celebration is still in the works but was tabled at this meeting. The homework assignment to come up with one still stands.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
The next meeting will be held Thursday, August
1, 2007 at 7:00 pm in the City Council chambers.
Respectfully submitted,
Jami Berry, Secretary
