Approval of Minutes

The March minutes were read via email prior to the meeting and approved.

Financial Statement

Rochelle reported that she met with Randy Ealy regarding the EAAC requesting financial support from the City toward operating expenses.  Randy was very receptive to the idea and we should know sometime in May whether the EAAC is in the City’s budget.

Mail

No mail.  Rochelle reported having received prior a check from the Eagle Foundry for $500 for the Summer Celebration. Jami will send a thank you and receipt.

Arts Commission Website

Jami still asks that everyone give any suggestions, additions, etc., to her anytime for our website.

Public Input

None at this time.

BUSINESS – Subcommittee Reports

2007 Summer Celebration

At the time of the meeting, Jami had not received a Summer Celebration report from Kate.  She will, however, check with Kate and forward any report from her to everyone after the meeting.  The next SC meeting is April 12 at 6:30 pm at the Flora Room of the library.

Publicity

Kathleen handed out another version of the TDC grant project flyer.  Jami will email Kathleen the number of mailers needed (she estimated 5,000).   Gloria is working with the Chamber to update the information that is currently on the flyer and will get together with Kathleen when she returns this week from her vacation.

Fundraising

Janette brought three advertising gadgets sales catalogs, which the group quickly reviewed.  It was decided to look into purchasing nylon backpacks and water bottles.  Kathleen said her source is better with pricing so she’ll research and get back to us regarding prices.

Community Outreach

Estacada Tourism Committee – Kathleen did not attend the meeting as she thought it was postponed.  The Chamber may be taking over the TDC.

Oregon Symphony Program – The next event – the Woodwind Quintet is Tuesday, April 17 at the Auditorium.   This is last event prior to the big event on May 12.  Angel reported that the gym at the high school only holds approximately 730 people; therefore, it was decided that Estacada Together would sell discounted tickets for the rehearsal and full-priced tickets for the evening events.

School Outreach – Mural Art Walk

Artback donated all the postcards Angel would need for her project, which Am brought for Angel.  Angel reported she would have a mock-up ready for perusal on May 2nd.

Public Art Opportunities

Centennial Art Project – No report at this time.

Library 1% for Art  No report at this time.

Wade Creek Park Project  No report at this time.  Kathleen agreed to work on this project when it comes up.

Friends of the Arts (FOTA)

Jami received a FOTA via the website – a couple who lives in Eagle Creek.  She will answer them and invite them to the Writers Night event and to volunteer for Summer Celebration.

Arts & Culture Series

Jami reported that everything was going smoothly.  The next event is Writers Night on Sat., April 21.  She contacted Barbara Adams to do a story about Stevan Allred and this event.  It will be out on the April 11 issue of the Estacada Newspaper.  Angel and Janette have volunteered to man the front table.  Jami will have the tri-fold done and in place for the evening’s event with FOTA pages ready and the FOTA box.  We agreed to have cookies, water, and juice for free and have a jar asking for donations.

Artback Postcards

Am reported that she spoke with Denise about putting the postcards into the water bills.  She learned that there are only 850 water bills that go out.  Since the postcards are too large for the envelopes, she will ask Artsmith how much they’ll charge to cut them down.  The remaining ones will go to the Chamber, Spiral Gallery, art events, and Summer Celebration.  Because the other TDC project (flyer) will be mailed out first, the postcards will go out in the June water bill.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

The next meeting will be held May 2, 2007.

Respectfully submitted,

Jami Berry, Secretary
