ESTACADA TOURISM COMMITTEE

A REGULAR MEETING OF THE ESTACADA TOURISM COMMITTEE WAS HELD at ESTACADA CITY HALL IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS in ESTACADA, OREGON.

 

1.       CALL TO ORDER – Bennett Johnson, Chair, opened the meeting at 7:00 PM. Minutes of last meeting were approved.

 

2.       ROLL CALL & INTRODUCTIONS Present were: Bennett Johnson, Chair, Jim Lingelbach Henny Rademacher, Irene Adams and Phil Lingelbach.

 

3.       PROJECT REPORTS: Bennett requested project reports to include whether money had been received from the city, (if received) how the money was spent and a report on the projects progress:

          2005-06 Projects

*      Signs: Phil Reported that PRIDE had allocated all tourism funds for the project and had received an additional grant of $600 from the Estacada Community Foundation to cover some additional costs. In addition EDA funds will need to cover unexpected costs of permits and additional installation expenses. The signs are currently at the Estacada Public Works yard awaiting installation. Whitney Signs is making tabs to attach with locations once the signs are erected.

*      Phillip Foster Farm Brochure: Henny reported that funds are expended and brochures distributed.

*      Portal Project: Bennett will be adding water color map, other info to portal displays. Phil attending Forest Service meeting in Portland in December to decide on Byway display that may also be available for portal.

2006-07 Projects

*      Cultural Events Promotion – Estacada Together - $500 – No report

*      Events Promotion & Calendar – Arts Commission, Foster Farm, Chamber - $1,880 – No one was available to report on project. The Chamber is requested to update committee on this project.

*      Water Color Area Recreation Map – City of Estacada - $2,400 – Irene reported the money was spent and map produced. She will bring a copy to next meeting.

*      Renovation Fund – PRIDE (EDA) - $12,500 - Phil Reported monies had been transferred to EDA PRIDE account and agreement signed. The plan is to send application form for funds to all businesses and business landlords in Estacada area by 12/1/06. Applications will be due no later than 1/1/07. PRIDE will prioritize applications and expend monies as projects are completed.

*      Heart of Clackamas Postcards – Arts Commission - $2,620 – No report.

*      Heritage Wedding Project – Foster Farm - $4,600 – Henny reported that MJ Cody had been appointed to head project but she had no other information.

*      Upgrade Brochures & Visitor Guide – Chamber - $3,000 – Irene reported that the Chamber was printing the brochures but wasn’t sure whether this project was complete.

*      Upgrade Visitor Information Center brochure rack – Chamber - $2,500 – Irene reported that Chamber office is probably moving and visitor info center will be redesigned. Chamber may request modification of this proposal. Bennett asked that the Chamber be reminded that any changes have to be approved by the committee and TDC before they can be approved

 

4.       BUSINESS PLAN & TAP UPDATE: The City manager asked that these be submitted to the Council for approval however the City has asked the TDC to transfer there oversight to the Chamber. The TDC has not yet taken action on the request however no change is anticipated in the 2006-07 project year. 

                                                         

5.       CITIZEN COMMENTS: None Present

 

6.       NEW BUSINESS: Members were asked to bring prospective new members to next meeting. Application and appointment process will be clarified later. We would like to recruit three new members.

 

7.                 ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 7:45PM
