Dianna Turk’s House, Estacada, Oregon                                Special Meeting Minutes

 

Present:    Dianna Turk, Chair, Steve Guilliams, Lisa Homan, Tracie Lougheed, Mike Uhlig, Zoe Miller & Phil Lingelbach, staff.

 

 

1. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 7:05

 

2. Roll Call: Above listed were present. Tracie clarified her intention to remain on the      commission until her term expires in December.

 

3. Approval of minutes: Steve moved and Tracie seconded motion that minutes of          8/17 and 8/24 be approved as amended. Minutes amended to reflect that both Zoe   and Tracie were excused and not listed as absent. Motion passed unanimously.

 

4. Citizens Comments: None present.

 

5. Commission Business:

      Burn to Learn Event: Mike moved and Steve seconded motion to buy up to 100 t-      shirts for $675 beginning with purchase of 50. The motion passed by unanimous   consent. Mike explained that fifty shirts will be ordered and revenue from these           sales will be used to purchase more if needed. The shirts will have a city logo and Parks & Rec on front and “I am hot for Wade Creek Park” on the back. The shirts       will sell for $12.50 and cost about $6.75 including artwork and set up costs. Lisa       will create order form          and see if they can go out in school packets.        Lisa asked that          members check out optional site South of Valberg next to the service station.      Dianna will check with Fire Dept as to the time the burn is scheduled. Phil will      see who owns alternate site and see if bleachers are available from school.

 

      The Commission discussed an artist’s conceptual drawing for the park promotion.    Several names and possibilities were discussed. The High School art class will be            contacted to see if they can assist.

 

      Dianna moved and Steve seconded motion that Park & Rec Commission not            sponsor Rec-Ex event and that a letter be written to Nina suggesting that the             Chamber of Commerce might be most appropriate organization to sponsor the          event. Motion passed unanimously.

 

      Watershed Council update: Phil reported he had checked the Clackamas      Watershed Council website to see if the Wade Creek Assessment was posted and     it was not as of today. Update was tabled till next meeting.

 

      Cocktail Party Update: Lisa said Community Center was reserved for 10/15 and       some donations for the silent auction were coming in. Mike will contact wineries       to see if a wine tasting could be set up. Lisa will check with Job Corps about   availability to serve appetizers. The group discussed dress and considered options.        The plan is to charge attendees $10 if prepaid or more at the door.

 

      Children’s Art Contest: The coloring contest will be distributed through the      schools on 9/19. Kids will color the park for prizes. There will be an entry fee to      raise money for the park design fund. Phil thought the flyers could be duplicated   by the city.

 

      Lisa is sending letter to newspaper clarifying what happened to the WOW funds.

 

6. Adjournment: 9/14 Special Meeting at 7PM – Workshop to work on Burn to Learn       & Cocktail Party at Dianna’s House. Next regular meeting 9/28 at City Hall.   Meeting adjourned at 8:35
