OLD BUSINESS

Centennial Arts Project Update

Katinka reported that she is working on the Meyer Memorial Trust grant, which is due next week.  Mimi spoke with Blaine Moody regarding the landscaping around the project.  We hope to get concrete donated.  Katinka will contact several people about the concept of raising funds for the Centennial fountain by auctioning donated items on eBay.  Katinka also suggested we advertise this concept in the local paper asking for donations from the public.  Bob Austin spoke with the Estacada Community Foundation asking them to be our tax umbrella for this project but we don’t know the outcome of this meeting just yet.

Arts & Culture Series 2005

Lesley reported that we were not able to schedule Keith Scales through Oregon Chautququa. She agreed to speak with Nolene Triska of PAGE to get the details of their performance and to solidify the dates.  Lesley also spoke with Stevan Allred regarding Writer’s Night and will contact the grange and get that all arranged.  The Writer’s Night will be called, “Big Stories from Small Towns,” and Joanna Rose and Laura Stanfield will be reading as well.

Poet’s Night will be Friday, April 15th with the English instructors Dave Mount and Jim Grabill from Clackamas Community College.  There will be no fee and the evening event, “An Evening of Poetry and Music,” will take place at City Hall.

On Sunday, April 24, the Sojourn Theater will present “Witness Our Schools” at 1 pm at the Community Center.

Estacada Together is discussing sponsoring Obbo Addy to perform at the auditorium on May 6 or 13.  Jane will contact them and then let Lesley know the outcome.

Jami brought the labels printed and ready to use for mailing out the postcard announcements.

Summer Celebration 2005

We are still waiting to hear from Kate Bast about the performance line-up before we set another meeting date.  The Arts Commission was one of just four groups in Oregon that received the National Endowment for the Arts “Fast Track” grant for $10,000.  We also received an Oregon Arts Commission Arts Build Communities grant in the amount of $6,200.

Estacada Arts Commission’s Action Plan

The commission has a meeting set for 6:30 pm at Lesley’s home on Friday, January 21st.
