Financial Report

There was some confusion about the current balance, so Katinka would see Traci at City Hall about as soon as possible.

Citizen Input

There was none.

NEW BUSINESS

Gloria saw a sign advertising the upcoming Timber Festival event on the highway near the Timber Park and suggested the commission come up with a sign for the Summer Celebration.  She agreed to meet with Suzanne about arranging for this.

OLD BUSINESS

1% for Art Ordinance - Update

Katinka brought some additional wording to add to the ordinance.  The commission voted on what wording they wanted to see added to the ordinance to satisfy the City Council’s recent request for some changes in the ordinance.   Suzanne will present it at the next City Council meeting on June 21st.

Commission Elections

Barbara Matson served out her term and this was her last meeting.  The commission thanked Barbara for all her hard work and dedication to the commission over the years.  Jane Reid reapplied for her position, as did Suzanne Dinsdale.  Angel Austin applied to become a member of the commission.  The commission voted on officers; Katinka Bryk will serve as Chairperson, Gloria Feider Polzin will serve as Vice-Chair, Jami Berry will serve as Secretary.

Centennial Arts Project Update

Suzanne brought in a ‘call for artists’ proposal, which the commission reviewed and corrected.  Jami will see that it is distributed to the local newspaper, local area artists, Steven Amick of the Oregonian, and will have Traci put it on the City website.

Policies and Procedures

Cheryl Snow, Executive Director of the Clackamas County Arts Action Alliance and Bill Flood from the Arts Builds Community of the Oregon Arts Commission attended the meeting to assist the commission with establishing its final policies and procedures and organizational development.  Cheryl brought our summarized “Action Plan for 2004-05” which the commission had created earlier in a workshop held by her.  Cheryl and Bill both commended the commission for all its hard work and many accomplishments.

Key points made by both were:

*       To keep being creative and have fun

*       Stay community based

*       Keep lines of communication open between commissioners

*       Stay in touch with all the different groups in Estacada

*       Keep our goal to become co-sponsors of local events

*       Convey our mission and values

*       Get the word out that “Arts Builds Economic Development”

*       Develop relationships with local businesses and groups

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.

Next meeting July 7, 2004  7pm.

Respectfully submitted,
