Financial Report

The financial reported stated that the account balance to date is $1,795.36

Citizen Input

Nina Hamilton stated we needed better representation for the 1% for Arts Ordinance at the City Council meeting.  Katinka assured her that we would.

Callie Vandewielk representing the Dragon Theater Puppets from the Gresham Arts Theater brought a puppet “Thrump-O-Moto” from a James Clavell book.  She gave the commission information regarding their puppet show and their performances.  Their group wants to be considered for the Summer Celebration.

OLD BUSINESS

Centennial Arts Project Update

Suzanne stated that the committee was still discussing the community tile wall project and had not decided for certain on the project.  The details are still being worked on as is the location.

Auditorium/Estacada Together/Friends of EPA Update

Jane stated there was no new report.  Portland Youth Philharmonic was still scheduled to play a spring concert.  Jane will connect with Debbie Anderson regarding publicity.  So far they planned on sending flyers home with school children and posters would be put up around town.  Jami agreed to email the Arts Commission list just prior to the event.

Summer Celebration 2004 Update

Jane reminded the committee that the next Summer Celebration Meeting would be held on April 14th at 7:00 pm at her house.  We would be working on finalizing the budget.  The Estacada Garden Club will be donating the proceeds from their annual tea to the Summer Celebration.  Jane will speak about the Summer Celebration at the tea.  Brent Dodrill told Jane that Sunday’s activities were pretty well lined up.

Arts & Culture Series

Jane reported that there was one event left which the commission will be helping to advertise.  Mary Bywater Cross will be speaking at the grange one week prior to the Skip-A-Week Quilting Club’s annual quilt show.

1% for Art Ordinance - Update

Katinka reminded us that the city council will meet April 12th and that we needed to be there to help explain and show support.  The Spiral Gallery Co-Op has a meeting that night and will send over some of the artists to represent.

Policies and Goals

Due to the time constraint, this subject was tabled until next month’s meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Cheryl Snow agreed to hold another grant writing workshop.  It will be either May 4th or May 12.  Katinka would get back to us regarding the date and more details.

New Committee Member

Lesley Atlansky was in attendance and had applied for the open commission position.  The commission was very excited and was looking forward to working with Lesley.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Jami Berry, Secretary
