Estacada Parks and Recreation Commission
Minutes – June 25, 2003
Chairperson Turk called the
meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
Members Present: Dianna Turk, Pam Peterson and Roxanne
Morrisey
Guests Present: Bob Austin, Randy Ealy and Cindy Baker. Present from the University of Oregon were
Bethany Johnson, David and Naoko.
The minutes of the 5/28/03 meeting were
reviewed. Because a quorum had not been
established for the meeting, Chairperson Turk recommended that the approval of
the minutes be moved to the next meeting.
Roxanne Morrisey will e-mail a copy of the minutes to each member.
Chairperson Turk read a
resignation letter from Commissioner Kristina Engelbrecht from the Parks and
Recreation Commission. The Commission
thanked Kristina for her service over the years. Chairperson Turk requested that the process
be started to fill the vacancy.
Chairperson Turk will forward the letter to the City of Estacada for the
records.
Citizen’s Concerns & Comments
Estacada resident Cindy Baker
was present at the meeting. Ms. Baker
would like to implement a Saturday program for children’s tennis. She
would like to operate as a non-profit organization
and would like to donate part the program fees to the Estacada Chamber of
Commerce. Chairperson suggested that Ms.
Baker contact the Chamber of Commerce for additional information regarding her
idea.
Staff Report
Mayor Bob Austin was present
for the Staff Report. Mayor Austin
addressed the letter that was sent by the Parks and Recreation Commission
regarding the lack of a City Council Liaison being present at the Parks and
Rec. meetings. Mayor Austin asked for
patience from the commission on this issue.
Due to scheduling conflicts the liaison(s) have not been able to attend
the meetings.
City Manager Ealy introduced
the guests from the University of Oregon.
CM Ealy then turned the time over the Bethany Johnson to give the
Commission a report on the Master Plan Update.
Ms. Johnson went over a
presentation on Phase I that detailed the aspects of Phase I and the out
-come of the community meetings. She
then discussed what would be done on Phase II of the Master Plan update. CM Ealy indicated that he had a meeting with
representatives from PGE recently. CM
Ealy felt that PGE would be willing to contribute to the cost of Phase II. CM Ealy will contact the representative
regarding this issue. Ms. Johnson had two maps of Estacada that
detailed all existing parks. A copy of
each of the maps will be mailed to the members of the Parks and Recreation
Commission to review and make notes on.
The agenda was sent for the
July 23, 2003 meeting.
