The meeting was called to
order at 7:20 pm.
The copy of last month
meeting minutes were read and approved.
November’s minutes will be read at the February meeting.
Katinka reported the
current balance to be $1,953.51. The
only changes from last month were the reimbursement to Gary Warkentin (of
$96.47) for banners, and $500 of this balance is from the Estacada Together
group and is for the new community theater workshop, PAGE (Performing Arts
Group of Estacada) which recently was formed.
Jane noted that
approximately $200 would be spent for the upcoming Arts and Lectures Series
event with Carlos Reyes. Also some
monies would be spent for upcoming mailings.
Katinka stated she thought
it would be wise to wait until the new council got organized and perhaps
introduce it again in March and everyone agreed.
Katinka reported on PAGE
(Performing Arts Group of Estacada).
They had their first workshop on the 7th of January with 14
people in attendance. The cost is $10
per workshop or $42 for the series of six.
They meet at 6:30 pm every other Tuesday at the Community Center.
Jane reminded us (and
encouraged us to attend if possible) that the Arts Leaders Meeting would take
place on Friday at 10:00 am on Friday, February 10 at the Oregon City Carnegie
Center. Also that the Clackamas County
Cultural Planning meeting will take place in Canby from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on
Tuesday, January 14.
Poetry Reading – It was
reported that the schools are participating and aware of the January 24th
evening event. Gloria agreed to ask
Dwight to confirm that evening’s venue.
We all agreed to meet at the Community Center 45 minutes early to set up
chairs for the event.
Jane reported that the
Swing Dance and Concert committee will meet Thursday night at the Webers to
continue planning for the event. Art and Yvonne Abrams will be attending.
The commissioners reported
that they had passed out all posters and table tents to their assigned
locations, with a few exceptions.
Gloria reported a small
error on the Local Writer’s Night venue.
It will be held at the City Hall’s Council Chambers, not the Community
Center. We will be handing out more table
tents and posters with the correction in the future, so this will not be a big
deal. Gloria was also going to make
sure all the A&L Series information would be put on the City’s website as
well.
Irene Adams stated she
thought the font type on our posters should be larger.
The commission reviewed
Gloria’s scheduling system for the A&L series and gave it an A+! Good job, Gloria!
Mimi
stated that there was no new news to report at this time.
The
commissioners agreed that a sub-committee meeting would be needed for this
project. We will be meeting at Jane
Reid’s house on Thursday, January 30th at 6:30 pm.
Jane
reported that the Arts Commission did not receive the Meyer Memorial Trust
grant for this year’s Summer Celebration and that more brainstorming would be
needed to be done to raise enough money for this year’s event. A suggestion that we ask Norma Piper to help
raise money was made.
The
Estacada Community Summit is a gathering of local civic, community groups, and
commissions to meet to discuss future plans and commitments from each
group. They will be meeting Thursday,
January 23, 2003, at 6 pm at the Community Center. They ask that each person bring $5 for pizza.
The
meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.
Respectfully
submitted,
Jami
Berry, Secretary
