Business:
Winter Arts Exhibit review: Gloria
interviewed some volunteers for
feedback
and 'what can we do better' comments. Gloria gets a great big
thank
you for doing such a terrific job as coordinator- everything ran
so
smoothly because of her conscientious attention to detail. Bravo!
Norma
suggested we make a timeline to begin planning a little earlier -
good
idea, we'll try it again! Let's not forget the silent auction idea, where each
artist makes a birdhouse or an ornament. Overall the feedback from participants
and attendees was extremely positive - we did a great job! Norma will write a
thank-you letter to the editor and she and Barb will send thank-yous to all the
volunteers. Katinka and Barb will mail thank yous, web site info and reminder
of Summer Celebration to the artists.
Banners: the banner committee has met with
Jenny Joyce and finalized
the
design. They are still working out other ideas, color, fabric etc.
We
can expect banners in early spring.
Artists Repertory Theater (A.R.T.):
production meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 7-9 for marketing, props,
staging etc. Jane will call Kate regarding press release for this. Story and
plotline group continues to meet Thursdays at 7.
Spring Arts and Lecture Series: Jane
contacted Tygres Heart, Alicia
Charlton
and A.R.T. Katinka received two Chautauqua booklets and gave
them
to Norma and Gloria to peruse. Jane will contact Emily Orlando
regarding
Clackamas Community College lecturers. Gloria has volunteered
to
be overall coordinator of events once they are scheduled. Thank you,
Gloria!
Barb suggested the publicity postcard have the phrases "You don't have to leave
Estacada" and Bring Your Friends.” The Spring Arts and Lecture Series
subcommittee will meet at Barb's on Wednesday, January 16, at 7pm to select
presenters and do scheduling.
Resignation: the commission accepts Ellen
Radcliffe's resignation as
she
has now moved to St. John's in Portland. Goodbye and thank you, Ellen. Karen
Veselik has expressed interest in applying for the vacant position. Katinka
will mail the application to her.
New
Business:
Estacada Summer Celebration: we received the Oregon Arts Commission’s Arts
Build Communities grant for $6820, so the Summer Celebration is a go. Jack
Townes has agreed to act as site
coordinator,
and Grier Cundill to be MC. Dave Grafe of PDX Audio has agreed to be our sound
person again. A subcommittee will meet at
Jane's
on Monday, January 7, at 9am.
Artists Gathering ideas: thank you letter
including web page form and invite to Summer Celebration. Studio tour and
co-operative gallery:
let's
keep the ideas percolating, do research on existing co-ops and
find
out some local rents and utility costs, then have Brent have a
meeting
(at Brent's ?) with the interested artists. Jenny Joyce has offered to do an
art tour at Edgefield as a fundraiser/arts event.
Adjourned
8:30 pm. Next meeting February 6, 2002.
Aloha,
and enjoy this palindromic year!
