Estacada Arts Commission Minutes

October 3, 2001

September minutes approved as revised.

Winter Arts Exhibit:

Gloria reported on available downtown spaces. Vince's old upholstery shop and the old exercise place are top choices. She will pursue after other members inspect spaces.

Keppie suggested art in all local businesses, 1st Thursday style.

Artisits Repertory Theater meeting 7pm Oct 4 @ city chambers. Many community members have been invited to this first planning meeting.

Scrapbook: Gloria graciously accepted the scrapbook update responsibilities.

Grants Notebook: Jane and Katinka will prepare one.

Estacada Summer Celebration planning notebook: Jane will invite Nina to help with this.

SOLV: Jane went to banner committee, will take Jenny's design to next meeting.

Discussion on outdoor public art such as the Seattle Pigs, the Chicago cows, the Mendocino Birdhouses and the San Jose Sharks. What could Estacada do?

Oregon Arts Commission grant: Jane moved we apply for it, Gloria seconded. All approved. Ellen will write support letter. It is due October 12.

Gloria will try to do October Chamber meeting. Ellen will get banners from fire station and bring to city hall storeroom. She will also get addresses for business thank yous.

Jane and Ellen will contact Jamie regarding the brochure.

Mission Statement revision went quickly. Gloria moved, Jane seconded passed unanimously to accept the following:

" Estacada Arts Commission is the spark that inspires, facilitates and promotes arts and culture for our community and its artists"
