Minutes
November 2, 2001
Jane Reid, Gloria Polzin, Barbara Mattson, Brent Lawrence, Norma Piper, guests
including Lisa Homan of the Estacada Chamber of Commerce.
October minutes were approved as written.
Scrapbook: Gloria and Norma will work together on scrapbook
responsibilities.

Old Business:
Banners: $250 from a SOLV grant through Randy will be used to
produce the permanent banners; Jenny and Lori Wiese will design.
Artist Repertory Theater Update: Jane talked with Kate
Hawkes. The program will involve ages 8 through 75 doing theater
exercises Saturdays from 10-12:00 in the Masonic Hall (old theater).
Ideas are needed for form. Two meetings will be held, Nov. 15 and
29. Vince Kohler of the Oregonian will do an article.
Outreach Update: Jane went to SOLV. Other community meetings
need to be attended, i.e., Estacada Chamber.
Mission Statement: The new EAC Mission Statement was again
accepted as read: "Estacada Arts Commission is the spark that
inspires, facilitates and promotes arts and culture for our community and its
artists."
Winter Arts Exhibition: Item moved to New Business..
New Business:
Summer Celebration 2002: We have been notified that the grant
application for next summer's Celebration has been received by OAC.
Whether EAC has been approved for the grant will be announced Nov. 19.
Arts and Lecture Series: Item tabled.
PR Brochure: Jamie Berry will do.
Winter Arts Exhibition:
Jane distributed worksheets for the WAE.
Secure facility. Gloria
and Brent have toured buildings and have tentatively chosen the brick site at
the corner of Main and 4th Ave.
Arrange for Panels - need by
Dec. 1. Brent will do.
Paint panels - Brent.
Brent needs paint rollers, brushes, paint., and volunteers.
Arrange for tables and chairs for
reception, food, display. How many? Who? When?
Banner or sign in window/decorations.
Norma will call Jenny to work together to create reusable banner for outside of
building that will say, "Art Show." Brent will create hanging
additions for various events. No decision on inside decoration.
Exhibit Dates:
Sat., Dec. 1 Show workday.
Thurs., Dec. 6 6-9 PM Art dropoff
Sunday, Dec. 9 3:30 Opening Reception (guests from RACC)
Dec. 13,14,15,16 (hours TBA) Staffed exhibit
Music performance during the exhibit
was discussed as desirable. Several groups were suggested and will be
contacted by individual members. It was agreed that staffing of the exhibit is
necessary. Suggestions for staff included: Job Corps students, EHS
students, EAC members, EAC members' family members; the Volunteer Connection
through Clackamas County Social Services. Any student volunteers would be
accompanied. Andrew C. of Job Corps will be contacted by Norma. Artists' contract was discussed, as was
need for insurance for artwork and site
liability. Norma will call Randy Ealy about City of Estacada
insurance coverage for this.
Public Relations.
Volunteer needed to get notices to CCN, Oregonian, Gazette. Guest Lisa
Homan of the Chamber noted here that Steve of the Gazette will gladly put announcement(s)
in the Gazette if info is received by the 20th.
Posters: Volunteers
needed to create, put up, decide when.
Postcards to mailing list.
Volunteer needed to create, mail and decide when.
Reminder postcards to artists.
Volunteer needed to create, decide what to say and when to mail.
Work day: It was decided
that a work meeting would be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, 7 PM at Pipers.'
