2005-06 City Council Goals

On Saturday, February 5, 2005 the Estacada Mayor, City Council and City Manager held a Goal setting Workshop at Whispering Pines Apartments from 8:00am to 12:00pm.  The intent of this process is to set goals that will serve as general guidelines for the City budget and city work plans for this year and into the near future.

The goals where arrived at within the context of previous City Council goals, but also within a broader recognition of the 2000 community-wide Estacada Strategic Plan- which focuses effort in the following 4 areas:

*       Infrastructure

*       Workforce Development

*       Business Development

*       Quality of Life

2005-06 City Council Goals

Short Term (January-June 2005)

*      Local gas tax- explore alternatives

*      Water Utility Rates- conduct study of O&M costs

*      Centennial Celebration events- Time Capsule; Mayor’s Ball; Art

*      Water Plant- explore taste & odor alternatives

Intermediate (January-December 2005)

*      City Charter Review- Assign Citizen Committee

*      Transportation System Master Plan- Complete Update

*      Comprehensive Plan- Complete work- forward to county

*      Community Center- Explore alternatives and define relationships

*      New Public Library Project- Begin design and construction

*      New City Park- Begin design and construction

*      Provide for Municipal Court Training- clerk and judge

Ongoing (January-December 2006)

*      Continue reviewing city professional contracts

*      Update, through Summit process, 2000 Estacada Area Strategic Plan

*      Budget for Phase II Urban Renewal Plan- downtown redevelopment

*      Consider new City Web-site host and redesign

*      Improve Community access channel & programming

*      Study alternatives for community policing and public safety

*      Study alternatives for code enforcement program

*      Review entire recycling (neighborhood and business) program

*      Business recruitment and retention of day-to-day services

*      Fund essential public works and plant equipment
